the medium

every artist has a medium. 

through this medium, he expresses his impressions of the world or portrays the details of his surroundings. sometimes the subject is beauty and sometimes it is pain. but whatever his medium may be, it should speak the truth. we all want to speak the truth, we all want to show the beauty and pain of our world for others to see and feel. it brings us closer as we laugh together or shed tears for each other. 

i don't take pictures for any other reason than to capture moments of truth. the truth that children are intrinsically beautiful, that light comes from God and illuminates everything meaningful before us, that tears are shed, dreams are made and the heartache and drudgery of day to day life can be snapped in a split second and look immediately profound. my children make my world beautiful and when my words can't express it or my eyes are clouded, i can look through a lens and i can pocket the truth that is staring me in the face.
