since daddy now works weekends and we no longer subscribe to cable TV, 'saturday morning cartoons' have been replaced by playing football on the xbox. daddy eventually gives up the real controller, by demand of the three year old, "daddy! i need the white controller because my pajamas are white!" the logic is completely intact. she runs senselessly around the field until she miraculously scores a touch down, much to the excitement of both game players.
 the same day she played videos games with daddy, she caught her first fish on the ice and reeled it in all by herself. after a brief panic as the fish started tugging on the line, daddy encouraged her and she excitedly shouted as she reeled, "i'm doing it! i'm doing it!"
she doesn't realize the undeniable truth of her daily mantra, complete with a tight hug around the neck, "daddy, we're best friends."

dad: "jade, if you see a skunk, run the other way. they stink and shoot stinky spray out of their bum."
jade: furrowed brow and finger pointed assuredly to reiterate the importance of her statement "yeah, they are stinky. they need a new bottom, daddy."

she holds the answers to the world.
